VHS To Hold “Ultimate Sacrifice” Program

By Staff | Nov 5, 2015

On Nov. 9, in honor of Veterans Day, Valley High School will be having an assembly in the auditorium to honor local veterans. The theme will be ‘The Ultimate Sacrifice.’ Events will begin at 1 p.m. All local veterans are invited to come participate in the program. There will be guest speakers, performances by the band, and student speakers. Students and staff of VHS are partnering with the Veterans Bluegrass Association to help the association with their oral history project. The VBA is currently working on creating a “Mobile Oral History Lab” that can travel across the state to record veterans’ stories of their experiences serving our country. These stories will be archived in the Library of Congress. VHS will be hosting the VBA on Nov. 9 and on future dates to provide a location for community veterans to share their stories. There will be refreshments for local veterans who attend, starting around 1 p.m. Recordings for the oral history project will begin after the assembly.
