By Staff | Sep 23, 2015

Rosy Cozart of the Wetzel County Animal Shelter provided the Wetzel County Commission with an update regarding the shelter at the commission’s regular Sept. 14 meeting.

Cozart stated that the shelter would not be having their annual Mutt Strutt because of a lack of time to plan. However, Cozart stated the tradition would be back next year. In the meantime, Cozart said plans are in progress for the annual auction, to be held 3 p.m., Oct. 31 at the Mollohan Center. Cozart said the theme is a “Howl-o-ween” theme. Those attending the event may wear a costume. Dominos has agreed to donate pizza, and there will be hot and cold drinks, along with popcorn and desserts. Auction-wise, the cost is $3 a paddle. There will also be a 50/50 contest and door prizes.

To still be somewhat engaged in the Mutt Strutt tradition for 2015, Cozart said the shelter will be holding a Facebook online costume contest for pets.

Cozart said the animal shelter’s supporters are still searching for a location for a new shelter. Cozart said the location needs to not be too close to other homes.
