Council Closes Airport
The New Martinsville Council discussed several issues at Tuesday’s Sept. 8 meeting.
One of the main issues was the closing of the airport, which is now officially closed. Those who had hangers still need to remove items. Those who paid a full year of hanger fees will receive a refund of their remaining balance. The property that the airport sits on now officially belongs to the city.
The property was turned over on Sept. 9.
In the Department Head meeting, there was further discussion of a property on Barricks Lane. The issue is the resident a large pile of wood chips that has yet to be cleaned up. The city has decided to fine him $50 a day for up to 10 days. After those 10 days, the possibility of jail time.
Along with the wood chips the resident has a log pile as well. The city is okay with the log pile as long as it is neat.
