What started as an idea soon turned to reality. The Wetzel County Wall of Honor has become a symbol to the Wetzel County community, ensuring that no service man or woman will go without recognition. The brainchild of Randy “Matt” Bland, Sons of the American Legion Commander, the Wall has undergone a recent refinishing.

Erected in 2014, the Wall has been refurbished with the names of those Wetzel County men and women who proudly served in the armed forces. According to the mission statement of the American Legion, the Legion is dedicated to “sponsoring of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.”

The Wetzel County Wall of Honor stands as a reminder of the valor and bravery of the Wetzel County citizens who served our country.

A rededication ceremony will be held at the American Legion Marne Post #28 on Saturday, Sept. 12, 1 p.m. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.

Please plan to attend as the legion honors the heroism of noble Wetzel County veterans.
