Pair Named To Sewer Board In Pine Grove
At the Monday, August 10 meeting of Pine Grove Town Council, residents Perry Adam and Dave Barr were appointed to the town’s sewer board. This came after resident Kitty Adams approached council again requesting assistance due to apartments she rents being damaged by sewage backups. Kitty Adams approached council at its July meeting requesting assistance. She claimed the repeated sewage backups had destroyed several items of furniture and also required extensive cleaning.
Mayor Roy Justice explained at July’s council meeting that the sewer board would have to make the decision regarding Kitty’s request. He explained no sewer board had yet been assembled after the town’s most recent election. After lengthy discussion regarding the situation, at Monday night’s meeting Justice recommended to council that Perry Adams, along with former mayor Dave Barr, be appointed to the sewer board. Perry Adams had previously been a member of the board. It was noted that he would not be involved in any decision making regarding Kitty’s request for assistance. Furthermore, at the first meeting of the sewer board, additional members will be appointed.
Council also returned to the previous month’s discussion regarding hours for the town’s park. Council approved to set the park hours for dawn to dusk.
In another matter, Justice said the town is in need of another mower. He said the town needs a larger, more commercial mower. No decision was made by council as to whether or not to purchase a mower, as council members requested that Justice price several different mowers.
At Monday’s meeting, council approved the request of several residents to provide relief on sewage bills due to using water to fill swimming pools. Council also agreed to look further into a request made by Dave Barr to fix a culvert on his street.
In another matter, Council member Barbara King requested a work session in the future involving council, the mayor, along with different town organizations, such as the fire department.
At Monday night’s meeting, King, along with Council members Julie Liggett and John Hurst were present. Council members Eva Adams and Travis Villers were not present.
