Trio Arrested for Drugs at Budget Inn
A search warrant executed at New Martinsville’s Budget Inn Motel resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the discovery of liquid acid, heroin, marijuana, and a loaded weapon.
New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil reports a controlled buy was conducted at the motel, after which law enforcement obtained a search warrant. Upon research on Casey Nagy, one of the targets of the warrant, Cecil states law enforcement “checked out the guy and the vehicle,” and realized the individual had been arrested in 11 different states. NMPD requested assistance from the Special Response Team, and the individuals were detained.
Casey Nagy and Latisha Thompson were each charged with delivery of a controlled substance. Paris Brouwse was charged with conspiracy to deliver.
Nagy, 28, is from Missouri, while Paris Brouwse, 21, is from Kansas. Latisha Thompson, 29, resides in New Martinsville.
Chief Deputy Mike Koontz of the Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office states his office did activate the SRT at Cecil’s request. He adds he is very happy to see NMPD and WCSO working together.
Koontz explained that the SRT has specialized training into the entry of rooms and buildings and use specialized equipment such as shields and different vests, along with specialized weapons. The SRT has specialized training on a monthly basis.
