High School Students to Show Off Art
Wetzel County’s high school students will get a unique opportunity to show off their art skills next week as the high schools’ art departments are having their inaugural art show May 3-8, 1-5 p.m. each day at the Disciples Center located at 515 Maple Avenue, New Martinsville. The art show is free to the public.
Magnolia High School is the host for the event, with students participating from Hundred, Paden City, Valley and Magnolia High Schools.
Leslie Day, Magnolia’s art teacher, states that herself and Fawn Price, MHS’s Local School Improvement Council president, had been discussing the possibility of MHS having an art show, when Price brought up the possibility of having a show for the whole county. Day noted that Price went to the board, where she received their approval for the venture.
Day stated that students’ pottery pieces, paintings, and drawings will all be on display at the event, which will involve an awards ceremony at 2 p.m. May 3.
