Magnolia TSA Named Chapter Of Excellence

Magnolia High School’s Technology Student Association (TSA) won the Chapter Excellence Award at the State TSA Competition March 26-28 at Cedar Lakes, Ripley, W.Va.

Proudly, 22 students competed in the 2015 State Conference, winning the Chapter Excellence Award and several group and individual awards. Students competed in the following competitions: Biotechnology Design, Career Preparations, Chapter Team, Children’s Story, Computer Aided Design-2D Architecture, Creed Recital, Debating Technological Issues, Desktop Publishing, Dragster Design, Essays on Technology, Extemporaneous Presentation, Manufacturing Prototype, Mouse Trap Race, Music Production, On Demand Video, Photographic Technology, Structural Design and Engineering, Technology Bowl, Technology Problem Solving, Transportation Modeling, VEX Robotics, and Video Game Design.

Clayton Young brought home first in Mouse Trap Vehicle and Hunter Huggins was right behind him in second. Jeanie Desrosiers placed second in Photographic Technology with her 15 pictures portraying innovation. Levi Gump placed third in Transportation Modeling where he had to scale and produce a model helicopter. Logan Watson, Justin Wright, and Chandler Martin placed second in the very competitive event of On Demand Video.

The following officers brought home third in Chapter Team: Brianna Ritz, Logan Watson, Justin Rice, Josh Moore, and Thomas Lederberger.

Many students were also honored with bronze and silver awards.

Harley Price placed first in the annual fishing contest, catching a 16-and-a-half inch bass.
