Wetzel County residents can have peace of mind knowing that they will have the protection of Air Evac Lifeteam services for another year.

At their Jan. 27 meeting, the Wetzel County Commission agreed to renew their contract with the air ambulance service. The cost to the county is $93,685.

Membership Sales Manager Greg Jadwin states that for the 2015-2016 year, Wetzel County residents can now be flown out of Washington County, Pa., and Wood County. Jadwin stated that the number of Wetzel County residents being flown out of those two counties is rapidly increasing.

Jadwin said Wetzel County’s Air Evac location is averaging about a flight a day.

Furthermore, the local base will be getting a new helicopter. He stated that the controls “look like a video game.

“The whole compartment for the pilot is all screens. It’s all remote control and stuff like that.”
