Fire Destroys Snow Plow
There were no injuries after a snow plow truck caught fire early Tuesday morning on Burch Ridge in Marshall County.
Carrie Bly, communications specialist for the West Virginia Department of Transportation, stated that the driver of the truck believes that the truck went into what is called “burn-off mode.” Bly stated the driver started smelling diesel fuel and the cab of his truck filled up with smoke. “He pulled over and was just out when the truck went up in flames,” Bly noted. She stated the truck was a total loss.
However, Bly stated that WVDOT is just “extremely happy he got out.”
“He was just trying to do his job, and we are glad he got out just fine.”
Bly noted that it does set the WVDOT back when “these kind of problems happen.”
“It’s never a good time for a truck to catch on fire, and it sure is a worse time when we are right in the middle of our snow-removal process.”
“We are just very thankful no one was hurt,” she noted
