State Police Warns To Stop

By Staff | Dec 17, 2014

The West Virginia State Police would like to tell motorist in Wetzel and Tyler Counties of the importance of stopping for School Buses while loading and unloading children.

The State Police would like to remind motorist that the law states: drivers shall stop the vehicle before reaching the school bus when there is in operation on the school bus flashing warning signal lights, and the driver may not proceed until the school bus resumes motion, or is signaled by the school bus driver to proceed or the visual signals are no longer actuated. WV Code 17C-12-7.

The State Police would also like to inform drivers that this law applies to all roadways in Wetzel and Tyler Counties to include WV Route 2 even if there is a continuous left turn lane, for example New Martinsville North of Wal-Mart.

If you have any questions feel free to contact the State Police or your local law enforcement agency.
