Silver Knights Marching Band wins first place
The Tyler Consolidated High School Silver Knight Marching Band performed at the Hurricane Whirlwind of Bands competition Sept. 26. The Knights won first place band in their class. Other bands in class C were Wahama, Buffalo, Nicholas County, and Webster County.
The results were Tyler Consolidated, first; Nicholas County, second; Wahama, third; Buffalo, fourth; and Webster County, fifth.
The Knights drum line placed second and field commander Julian Work placed third.
St. Albans was the only band in Class B. Wayne County and Winfield made up the A class, which were the largest bands.
Wayne County was the grand champion of the event.
The members of the Knights Band are: Julian Work, field commander; Jasmine Kyle, Sydney White, Shianne Ferrell, flute; Marisha Morris, Hannah Ankrom, Jennifer Lynch, clarinet; Kia Barnhart, Becky Bolin, Brittany Weekley, Aleah Baker, alto saxophone; Bryan Day, bari saxophone; Dan Grimm, Sammie Frum, Kali Shanabarger, Jerrick Mercer, Ryan Jones, Makenzie Kimble, trumpet; Scott Gorby, Jessica Kimble, Ellie Howell, Justin Phillips, Ted Stackpole, trombone; Justin Boyd, baritone; Hannah Thomas, Brannon Jones, Molly Rine, snare drum; Alex Lohr, multiple toms; Hannah Dennis, Zack Jones, bass drum; Allyson Yoho, cymbals.
The band is under the direction of Wayne Smith. The assistant director is Sally Conklin. The band staff includes Brian Bailey, percussion; Matt Jennings, low brass; Cindy Smith, woodwinds; and Martin Parrish, support staff/transportation.
