Wetzel Board Approves Personnel Matters

By Staff | Sep 24, 2014

The Wetzel County Board of Education approved the following personnel and routine matters at their Sept. 15 meeting Monday night, which was held at Hundred High School as part of the Local School Improvement Council meetings.

As to personnel matters, Board Member Linda Kirk expressed concern over there being no athletic trainer at Valley High School. Albright said there was currently someone subbing at the position.

Kirk stated she also had a question as to “whenever we are dropped like a hot potato, do we consider that next time should the person apply.” Assistant Superintendent Jay Yeager noted that it would be considered.

Kirk then asked if all positions at Wetzel County Schools had been filled; Yeager noted that the only position that wasn’t filled was a reading position at Short Line School. He stated that there was a certification issue, but the board was looking at possibly hiring someone to come in “a couple days a week to work with us, and then we will try to fill that next year.” He stated there were issues with a counseling position at Paden City, but the current teacher would substitute while the board searched for a counselor.
