NMPD Catch Two Suspects
Dimarcus Santori Boswell, 19, of 506 Abbie View Drive, New Martinsville, was arrested and charged Aug. 21 with the misdemeanor offenses of battery, fleeing from an officer, and assaulting an officer.
The magistrate report containing Boswell’s charge of battery states that on Aug. 21 he struck another multiple times on the face and head with his closed fist.
Cecil stated Monday to the Wetzel Chronicle that NMPD Officer Don Larsen received the call concerning the battery Aug. 21. That day, while at a local football practice, Cecil himself spotted Boswell, who was still wanted for battery, sitting in the stands.
He approached the man and asked him if he was Dimarcus Boswell. Cecil stated that Boswell said he wasn’t, while a lady sitting next to him said that the man was, in fact, Boswell.
Cecil told Boswell that he was arrested for battery. At this point Boswell allegedly stood up, pushed Cecil, and took off on foot across Lewis Wetzel Park.
The magistrate report states that he ran over to Briar Cliff Court, where Cecil lost him between houses.
Cecil stated to the Chronicle that his dispatcher was able to contact Larsen, Wetzel County Chief Deputy Mike Koontz, and two officers from the Paden City Police Department to assist him.
Cecil added that Monroe County Sheriff’s Department also provided a police dog for assistance.
Boswell ended up at a location on Fourth Street, according to Cecil. He stated that while law enforcement was headed south on state Route 2 to the house on Fourth Street, Monroe County’s cruiser was actually wrecked in the process. After law enforcement arrived on scene, Boswell came out of the house and surrendered.
Boswell has already been arraigned on the charges of battery and fleeing from an officer. Bond for each of the charges was set at $500 each.
As of press time, he had yet to be arraigned on his charge of assaulting an officer.
In another NMPD matter, on Aug. 22, Dustin Moore, 20, of 187 North State Route 2, Apt. E207, was found by law enforcement to be in possession of 26 stamp bags of heroin. He was charged with intent to deliver.
Moore had been stopped by Larsen for driving on a suspended license.
Bond was set at $20,000 cash.
If convicted, Moore could be sentenced to one to five years in prison, fined $15,000 or both.
