Commission Talks About Tank Site
Swiss Valley Associates Engineers Doug and Matt Brake spoke with the Wetzel County Commission on Aug. 12 regarding the best way to get to the site of what will be New Martinsville’s water tank, located on the county 4-H property by Beechwood Estates.
The project, which would begin next year and take approximately three months, is in the very beginning planning stages, as there has not been an agreement made yet between city and county officials.
The first proposed method is an access road built off of Beechwood Drive; the second possibility would be an existing gravel road that would need some work, as it currently contains a slip. The third road would begin from Route 7. Matt Brake stated that switchbacks would be put in, to make the road less steep. He stated that this road is the most direct and shortest, but is “not there yet.”
One Beechwood resident attending the meeting, John Charles Mensore, expressed concern over fellow resident Matt Quinet’s property. He stated that his concern is Quinet losing the tree line on his property. Brake stated that the tank location could possibly be pushed back a little way.
Beechwood residents at the meeting decided that their committee would meet in the future to discuss the situation further.
