Hundred Will Host First Relay

By Staff | Jun 4, 2014

Hundred’s first Relay for Life will be held this year, June 14, from 6 p.m. to midnight, according to one of the organizers of the event, Joy Kuhn.

Teams and individuals are welcome to participate in the event and are allowed to register now or the night of the event.

Luminaria bags are being sold for $5 and may also be purchased now or the night of the event. The Luminaria lap will be held at 9:30 p.m. the night of the event.

Kuhn states that a concession will be available at the event with food donated by Bob Evans. Chicken, ribs, and kielbasa will be prepared on a “spit” by Mark Poe.

The relay will feature entertainment the entire evening, including Karaoke Konnection until 9:45 p.m., followed by Hundred Miles from Nowhere Band until midnight.

A three-point competition and corn-hole competition will be held, with sign-ups costing only $5. There will also be children’s games, raffles, a frozen t-shirt contest, Mr. Relay contest, Chinese and silent auctions, along with a “Walk in Her Shoes” lap and “Walk in His Shoes” lap.

T-shirts, featuring the names of all area businesses that have donated to the event, can be purchased at the event for $10, and Hair Stylist Brittany Cottrill will be at the event, offering to cut hair to be donated to Locks of Love.

Those who are unable to walk laps at the event have the chance to still participate, thanks to “If you can’t walk it, then rock it,” which features rocking chairs.

Kuhn encourages those who are interested in the event to contact her at 304-775-1981; Michelle Wise at 304-775-2565, or Betty Klug at 304-455-5320.
