New Martinsville City Council unanimously passed a motion Monday night to encourage people to “Color the Town Purple” for Wetzel County Relay for Life.

Relay Volunteer Judy Pastilong adds that the idea of showing support with the color purple is not just limited to New Martinsville. The Wetzel County Relay for Life involves the entire county.

The relay will be held June 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. at the 4-H campgrounds. More information on that will be forthcoming.

Other relay events include the Life Survivors and Caregivers Dinner to be held Thursday, June 5, 6 p.m., at Klug Hall, New Martinsville. All survivors and caregivers are welcomed and encouraged to attend. There will be food, fun, speakers, and door prizes at this free event. To RSVP call Cindy Moore at 304-455-3154 or Betty Klug at 304-455-5320.

Also, for the first time a relay will be held in Hundred on June 14, 6 p.m. to midnight, at the Hundred High School football field. More information on that event can be found on page 4A.
