Air Evac 78 and Wetzel County EMS kicked off EMS Week (May 18-24) when they held an EMS Appreciation Picnic at Wetzel County EMS on May 17. The event, held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., offered food, fun, and door prizes, including a grand prize giveaway of a gas grill at the event’s conclusion.

Virginia Greathouse was this year’s recipient of the Jimmy Lee Colvin Award and a tree dedication was also held in memory of the late William “Bill” Pugh who passed away on March 13. Pugh gave 45 years of his life as as a volunteer fireman with the New Martinsville Fire Department and 30 years with the New Martinsville Ambulance Service.
