Memorial Day Services Planned
Several local communities are holding special services on Memorial Day, Monday.
Paden City Park and Pool Commission, the American Legion Family of Paden City Post #86, and Sistersville Combined Honor Guard will hold Memorial Day services Monday.
The American Legion Post #86 family will hold services at Paden Memorial Gardens beginning at 10 a.m.
American Legion Post #86 Commander Josh Billiter will be in charge of the ceremonies. The Park and Pool Commission will have a program at the stage in the Paden City Park at 11 a.m. Richard Johnson and Wade Ferrebee are the coordinators. Mayor John Hopkins will be the main speaker. Also on the program is Josh Billiter, Post #86 commander.
The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of American Legion of Post #86 will flag veterans’ graves at Paden Memorial Gardens this evening.
Since Paden City American Legion Post #86 no longer operates a canteen, flags will be available for those who wish to place flags on the graves at other cemeteries at the Paden City Recorder’s office during business hours on May 21, 22, and 23 while supplies last.
The annual Memorial Day service will be held at K of P Cemetery at Hastings on Monday, 10 a.m. The program will be presented by the Pine Grove American Legion Post #81, Sons of the American Legion and Auxiliary, along with community churches and others. Everyone is welcome.
In New Martinsville American Legion Marne Post 28 will hold ceremonies at the following times and places: 10 a.m., Greenlawn Cemetery; 10:30 a.m., across the street to the mausoleum; 10:50 a.m., Williams Cemetery; 11:20, at the Ohio River Bridge; and noon, Walker Cemetery.
