Prom Season Begins Friday
Springtime means prom season, and three of the area’s high schools will be holding prom festivities this upcoming weekend.
Valley High School’s prom will be held Saturday, 8-11 p.m. at Pine Grove’s Byrd Center. Walk-in will be held at 7 p.m. in VHS’s gymnasium, where after-prom will be held later.
River High School will also be holding their prom Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m. at the New Martinsville Methodist Church hall. Walk-in will be held at 6 p.m. at the same location.
The Magnolia School Walk-In will take place Friday from 5-7 p.m. Prom-goers will gather at the New Martinsville City Building between those hours to enjoy a festive start to the evening while they have their pictures taken. Only prom-goers will be allowed to enter the city building.
Students will be “presented” to their friends and family as they exit the front doors of the city building. Mark Lemasters will announce the names of the students as they begin their walk down the sidewalk from the front doors to the street. Family and friends are encouraged to mingle with prom-goers after they have reached the street.
There will be plentiful parking. Only prom-goers may park in the city and college lots behind the WVNCC building, as well as in Christy’s parking lot. Limousines may park in the lower block of Main Street between the bridge and Washington Street (the city building). The city lot and the rest of downtown parking are available to townspeople.
If it rains, the walk-in will be held at Magnolia in the gym.
