Pine Grove Runs Out Of Water
Pine Grove Mayor Roy Justice said that while he knew the town’s water tank was getting low it was surprising to him when he woke up Friday morning and the town was out of water.
“Friday morning we got up and the whole town was out of water,” said Justice.
The town was literally being leaked dry as the extremely cold temperatures had caused line breaks and meters to freeze and bust.
The town crew worked diligently to find as many offending situations as they could. Four primary leaks were found and corrected.
As of Monday night’s council meeting, Justice said the town had eight feet in of water in its tank, so its reserves were increasing.
Also, he said a water sample has been sent to Wheeling, W.Va., for testing. Hopefully, he said, the boil order that has been in effect since Friday will be lifted by Wednesday.
They will do their best to inform people when it is lifted. One method will be through the Wetzel Chronicle’s Facebook page, so keep checking for an update.
As for informing residents that the boil order was put in place, Justice said they contacted WTRF-7 television and put up notices in the local businesses. Area fire departments were also put on standby during the water shortage.
Justice said while the situation is improving, “We’re not completely out of the woods yet.” He said a six-inch line is still leaking and the town is continuing to find and repair leaks in their water system.
