Commission Opens Bid
Wetzel County Commissioners opened one bid Tuesday morning for a new courthouse security system.
The sole bid, which was not approved yet as of press time, was for $202,376 and came from Camel Technology, Dunbar, W.Va.
In another matter, Prosecuting Attorney Timothy Haught approached the commissioners regarding the telephone system at his office. Haught stated the telephone system his office currently has is 14 years old and is functioning; however, several of the phone units are going bad. Haught stated this system came from Advanced Communications Company, from Wheeling, W.Va. Haught expressed concerns about continuing with ACC as the cost would be prohibitive.
Haught stated he is looking into Black Box Network Services, Barboursville, W.Va., for a new system. The estimated cost for this new system would be $5,950. However, Haught stated he was not sure if this scenario would be a prevailing wage scenario; thus, the cost could be more if so.
In another matter, at the county commission’s last meeting on Dec. 31, it was decided that a public hearing would be held Jan. 21, 1:30 p.m., in regards to the expansion of the service area of the Grandview-Doolin Public Service District.
If the new expansion passes, Grandview-Doolin PSD would include Center, Church, and Clay Districts.
