A group of residents at Pine Grove’s Valley Manor Apartments is looking to make Christmas extra-special this year for the children of the manor.

Debora L. Bates, property manager, is proud and in awe of the work her residents have put into the apartments’ “Christmas town,” which is located in an uninhabited apartment.

Bates stated she was approached by the group of women, who were wanting to do something special for the children of Valley Manor. With just some spare boxes, art supplies, and a lot of talent, love, and dedication, the ladies are transforming a vacated apartment into a winter wonderland-an image out of a storybook, complete with a courthouse, church, and hotel-named after Bates.

The wonder doesn’t end with just a Christmas town though. On Dec. 14, the doors of the apartment will be opened to Valley’s Manor children for a special Christmas party. The festivities will include gifts for each child, including a special ornament, as well as a chance to meet the one and only Santa Claus, who will set up shop in another specially-decorated room of the apartment.

Bates also gives credit to the local Rebekah Lodge, who owns the Valley Manor Apartments. Bates stated that the lodge is helping to purchase some of the gifts for the apartments’ children who will come to Saturday’s party.

Also, the women are also encouraging other residents of the complex to decorate for the holiday season and are assisting those who are unable to physically get out and decorate.

Christmas Town also possesses a very beautiful and regal looking church.
