Pine Grove Prepares For Christmas

By Staff | Nov 13, 2013

Pine Grove Town Council is getting in the Christmas spirit as several plans were made at Monday night’s meeting in regards to upcoming Christmas activities.

A date and time of Dec. 15, 2 p.m., has tentatively been set for the town’s Christmas parade. The parade will end at Pine Grove’s Byrd Center, where cookies and hot chocolate will be served. Recorder Kimberly Bates stated that Santa Claus would also be present at the Byrd Center on the day of the event.

Council members discussed different ideas of what to offer the parade-goers and children. Besides hot chocolate and cookies, council member Eva Adams mentioned that one year hot dogs were served at the Byrd Center. Bates mentioned that at one time in the past boxes of fruit were donated and fruit was handed out as well.

The town also decided to have a Christmas decoration contest this year, with some sort of prize going to the winner. Council member Bonnie Martin offered to organize a coloring contest for the children. She stated she would purchase the prizes herself and the pictures could be displayed somewhere in town.

Council member and Park Committee Chairman Randy Street reminded council that a spaghetti dinner would be held at the Byrd Center Nov. 17 in support of park renovations.
