Pine Grove Paves Streets
Pine Grove Council noted at their Oct. 14 meeting that streets in the town have now been paved, following the sewer project’s completion.
“It looks pretty good,” noted Recorder Kimmy Bates. The areas paved are to the football field and on Simpson Hill.
They wanted to thank Dave Barr, Del. Dave Pethtel, Sen. Larry Edgell, and Gov. Earl Ray for the grants to pay for the paving.
Councilman Randy Street told council the city did not get any responses on an advertisement for bids to build a new shelter at the park. He said it doesn’t have to be bid since the payment comes from a $5,000 donation. So, the city will seek estimates privately. He thanked Scott Lemley for his assistance with the funding for that project.
Council unanimously approved the purchase of two tires for the town’s dump truck. Mayor Roy Justice said the back tandem tires are fine, but the front two need to be replaced and aligned before winter.
They unanimously set trick or treat in the town for Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Finally, it was reported that no progress has been made on the town’s Christmas lights as the crew has been too busy addressing other matters. Justice noted they would be looking into it.
