Wetzel County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Mike Koontz was able to confirm today that Hundred State Police and Wetzel County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting Tuesday night in the Hundred/Earnshaw Road area. Koontz said that Sheriff John Brookover and three other deputies responded from the sheriff’s department.

Koontz could not confirm who the suspect, who was taken into custody, is just yet but said that the gunshot victim was transported by helicopter. AirEvac Lifeteam was able to confirm to the Chronicle that they flew a patient from Long Drain School to Ruby Memorial Hospital last night. Koontz said reports indicate the individual is stable.

Authorities reportedly closed a portion of nearby W.Va. 7 during the altercation.
