Wileyville Homecoming To Be Held Saturday

Saturday’s Wileyville Homecoming will present a wonderful sampling of local talent on their stage. But of course the event is about much more than entertainment-it’s about community.

The 20th annual event will; kick off with the traditional parade at 10:30 p.m., followed by the opening ceremonies.

Then the concessions, vendors, and games open as the day of visiting and just simple enjoyment proceeds throughout the day.

The Wileyville Volunteer Fire Department, which hosts the annual event, is famous for their dinners and the Homecoming offerings are no different. They will offer up Wileyville’s famous roast chicken, roast beef, roast pork, barbecue ribs, hot sausage, homemade noodles, apple dumplings and much more.

There are children’s games, door prizes, and of course the Veterans Wall will be on display.

Their annual quilt show will line the walls of the stage area that will host a variety of musical groups: 12:00-12:30 p.m., Ryan Ritchea; 12:45-1:45 p.m., Tharp Brothers; 2:00-2:45 p.m., One Accord; 3:00-4:00 p.m., 100 Miles From Nowhere; 4:15-4:45 p.m., Common Ground; 5:00-6:00 p.m., Ebert Brothers & Friends (featuring Leo McMillen); 6:15-7:15 p.m., The Price Family; and closing the stage will be Crossroads beginning at 7:30 p.m.

They will also have horseshoe pitching, Cinch tournament, crafts for sale, flea market, and Cartoonist J.D. Williamson will be there from 1-5 p.m.

The the entire event will be capped by fireworks at dusk.
