Board of Ed Approves Matters At July 3 Meeting

The following personnel and routine matters were approved at Monday night’s meeting of the Wetzel County Board of Education:

Retirement:

Cynthia S. Weber, acceptance of retirement from position as first grade teacher at Paden City Elementary School, effective Dec. 31.

Resignations:

Stacy K. Hooper, acceptance of resignation from position as head girls’ soccer coach at Magnolia High School, effective immediately.

Donna K. Jones, acceptance of resignation from position as LINKS Coordinator at Paden City High School, effective June 30.

Steven M. Wayts, acceptance of resignation from position as countywide substitute bus driver, effective immediately.

Professional Personnel:

Marla J. LaRue, approval for change in assignment from fourth grade teacher at Long Drain School to fifth grade teacher at LDS, effective the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.

Thomas R. Myers, approval for employment as general music teacher/choir director/band director at MHS, 240-day contract, effective July 9.

Nathan R. Tallman, approval for change in assignment from MI/LD/BD with Autism Teacher at MHS to MI/LD/BD with Autism Teacher at PCHS, effective the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.

Service Personnel:

Amy J. Wade, approval for change in assignment from half-time supervisory teacher aide at Hundred High School to supervisory teacher aide (Pre-School), special education at WCCCF, effective the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.

Extracurricular:

Joe A. Anderson, approval for employment as assistant football coach at PCHS, effective the beginning of the 2013-2014 WVSSAC Season. (Non-certified)

Heather R. Cain, approval for contracted services position as countywide supervisory teacher aide/Autism mentor – extended year program, based at Short Line School, effective July 2.

Kelli E. Goddard, approval for employment as assistant boys’ track coach at PCHS, effective the beginning of the 2013-2014 WVSSAC Season. (Non-certified)

Amanda J. Ice, approval for contracted services position as countywide pre-school special needs teacher – extended year program, based at SLS, effective July 2.

Nathan R. Tallman, approval for employment as golf coach at PCHS, effective the beginning of the 2013-2014 WVSSAC Season.

Michael P. Wolf, approval for employment as head boys’ soccer coach at MHS, effective the beginning of the 2013-2014 WVSSAC Season.

Routine Matters:

Request to Attend

Wetzel County Schools:

Approval of request from Justina Merrill for her children, Jacob and Ethan Merrill, to attend Wetzel County Schools (Long Drain School) for the 2013-2014 school year, pending release from Marion County Schools.

Approval of request from Sharon Lasure for her daughter, Shelby Gatian, to attend Wetzel County Schools (Paden City High School) for the 2013-2014 school year.

Fund Raisers:

Per advisement of the Board’s legal counsel, the Superintendent recommends that the Board approve the following groups/organizations to raise funds (monies) in the name of a particular school in Wetzel County:

Paden City Elementary School: Paden City Elementary School, Paden City Elementary PTA, Paden City Elementary Art, Paden City Elementary Chess Club, Paden City Elementary Library, Paden City Elementary Choir, Paden City Elementary Boosters, Paden City Elementary Relay for Life, Paden City Elementary Leukemia/Lymphoma, Wheelchair Mission Fundraiser, and St Jude Math-A-Thon

Out of State Trips:

Approval of request from Bryan Ensinger, Cross Country Coach, to take the MHS Cross Country Teams to Pittsburgh, Pa., on Aug. 17. Funded through fund raisers.

Golf Fees:

Approval of request from Dave Tallman, Golf Coach at MHS, for payment of $500 fee for the use of the course at Fairway Riverside Golf Course in Sardis for the upcoming 2013-2014 “WVSSAC” Season.
