Albright Plans School Visits As Superintendent

By Staff | Jun 19, 2013

Wetzel County's next Superintendent of Schools Dennis J. Albright

Despite a busy schedule, which includes regular commutes from Braxton County to Wetzel County, Dennis J. Albright, the new superintendent of Wetzel County Schools, was able to stop by the Wetzel Chronicle office June 13 for a quick interview.

Albright has been Braxton County’s superintendent for four years; prior to this, he was the assistant superintendent in Grant County for two years. Albright stated this is actually his 20th years of being an administrator; Albright has a total of 33 years of experience altogether. Most of these years have been spent in both Maryland and West Virginia. Six years were spent in private schools.

As for Wetzel County, Albright stated that in addition to current Wetzel County Superintendent Diane Watt, he has met with some of Wetzel County Board’s central office staff and was hoping to meet with the rest of them that day.

Albright stated that although he had not visited the Wetzel County Center for Children and Families yet, he had been the other eight county schools. It is Albright’s personal goal to be in every Wetzel County School at least once a month. He says the staff has welcomed that idea and teachers have offered for him to come in and see what they are doing.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the people here in Wetzel County,” Albright stated. “I’ve felt very welcome, and my wife has has well. She really likes the community and is liking what she’s seeing so far.” They are in the process of finding a home moving.

Albright says his current goal is to become acclimated to Wetzel County’s schools. He wishes to meet the staff, meet those in the county, and learn what programs are in place and proceed from there. “I want to see what’s in place before I start. I want to see the good points, accentuate on those points, and further the system.”
