Watt Will Meet With New Superintendent
Wetzel County Schools Superintendent Diane Watt announced that three visits have been scheduled between herself and Wetzel County Schools’ next superintendent, Dennis J. Albright.
Watt stated the first visit is June 6 and two more visits will follow, on June 13 and 21. “We have an aggressive schedule,” she stated. “We will insert visits as we go along.”
Albright is currently the superintendent for Braxton County Schools.
In another matter, Wyatt Graham approached the board regarding a previous request he made for hard drives relating to bus cameras. Graham, who did not publicly indicate the reason behind the request, stated that the school bus he operates had been hit by a semi-truck on two separate occasions, once in November and once in March.
He stated that his attorney had requested a hard drive in each instance, which would show the surveillance of himself; however, the second request, from March’s incident, had been refused. “They were told it was a matter of confidential reasons . . .” said Graham who stated he had sent Superintendent Watt a letter requesting a copy of the hard drive, but he had not heard anything after 11 days. “I’m just trying to find out what is going on, but I haven’t heard anything,” he continued.
Watt stated that by instruction of FERPA regulations, the board was not permitted to give Graham a copy of the hard drive. She did say, however, that she would double-check just to make sure.
