Magnolia Names Horner Valedictorian

Brent Horner Valedictorian
Magnolia High School held its graduation May 23. The Class of 2013 was led by Brent Horner as the valedictorian and Alexis Kastigar, salutatorian.
Horner is the son of Joe and Kim Horner. He is a co-president of the National Honor Society, vice-president of the Science National Honor Society, and a member of Mu Alpha Theta math honorary.
Horner is the recipient of the Promise Scholarship, the West Virginia University Presidential Scholarship, the WVU Engineering Excellence Scholarship, the Bayer Scholarship, the Walter L. Mitchell Memorial Award, and the Rotary Club Scholarship.
His future plans include attending WVU where he will double major in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
Kastigar is the daughter of Steve and Debby Kastigar. She is a member of the Drug Free Clubs of America, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and co-president of Mu Alpha Theta.

Alexis Kastigar Salutatorian
She is a four-year member of the service club and has logged more than 50 hours of community service throughout high school. She has competed in the American Math Competition, participated on the Math Field Day team, and played trumpet in the marching and concert band for Magnolia High School.
She is a recipient of the Promise Scholarship, the John Marshall Scholarship, the Presidential Scholarship, and the Drug Free Clubs of America essay scholarship.
Kastigar will attend Marshall University and major in Anthropology.
