Pine Grove Will Seek Grant

By Staff | Apr 10, 2013

Eric Fecat of Belomar Regional Council announced to the Pine Grove Town Council Monday evening that Belomar will help Pine Grove apply for “anything they recommend for a Small Cities Block Grant.”

Fecat stated during a public meeting prior to the regular council meeting that the amount to be received by the state of West Virginia from Housing and Urban Development Funds for the Fiscal Year 2013 Small Cities Block Grant Program is approximately $13 million. The deadline to apply for funds is April 26. Fecat stated that the priorities will be for water and sewer projects.

Council members discussed the possibility of continuing the sewer program that they had completed last fall. It was determined that the available funds would probably be used to expand the sewer project to a new phase.

Pine Grove Town Council will meet again April 22, 6:30 p.m., for a second public hearing on how the Small City Block Grant funds should be spent.

At the regular meeting of town council, it was determined that the gentleman that cleaned the floors at the Byrd Center would continue to come back to clean and buff the floors once a month for $50.

Also, town council approved the request of an individual to hold a benefit at the Byrd Center.
