Mavety Pleads Guilty

By Staff | Apr 3, 2013

George James Mavety, 28, of PO Box 97, New Martinsville, pleaded guilty March 28 to one count of conspiracy to deliver oxycodone.

For this offense, Mavety is reserving the right to argue sentencing. The state’s recommendation is that Mavety serve one to five years in the West Virginia Penitentiary for Men, with credit for time served. In addition, Mavety will be banned from The Villas apartment complex in New Martinsville and will agree to pay $41.36 to the West Virginia Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Per the terms of the agreement, the state is also disposing of Mavety’s other indictment. Mavety is to return to court for sentencing on May 10, 10 a.m.

By the September 2012 grand jury, Mavety was charged with entry of a building other than a dwelling and petit larceny. Mavety’s other two-count indictment charges him with conspiracy to deliver oxycodone, along with delivery of oxycodone.
