Board Votes To Suspend, Not Terminate An Employee

By Staff | Feb 6, 2013

After a four-and-a-half hour executive session Monday evening, the Wetzel County Board of Education rejected Superintendent Diane Watt’s recommendations to terminate an employee contract and, instead, voted to suspend the employee without pay through Feb. 15. The board also voted that the employee receive a plan of improvement.

Board Vice President Bob Patterson made these motions that were supported unanimously by the board. Board member Carolyn Gatian was not present at Monday night’s meeting.

Watt’s recommendations consisted of suspending the employee without pay, along with termination of the employee’s contract. The suspension of pay began Jan. 17.
