In Wetzel County Circuit Court on Friday, defendant Jesse Ryan Tedrow, 20, of P.O. Box 325, Hundred, pleaded guilty to the lesser included offense, petit larceny, of his charge of grand larceny.

Tedrow was sentenced to one year in jail. However, upon further recommendation, the execution of this sentence was suspended. Therefore, Tedrow will instead serve one year probation.

“Your honor,” Prosecuting Timothy Haught stated prior to Karl’s official sentencing, “This case illustrates the proverb that ‘Evil companions corrupt good morals. . .’ This defendant has no prior criminal record . . . his family is with him today . . . He has cooperated in this matter, and therefore, I’m recommending probation for this first offense.”

However, Haught did caution Tedrow and his family that this was Tedrow’s “chance.”

“If he gets into any more trouble, I’ll seek revocation of his probation.”

Tedrow’s indictment handed down to him from the September 2012 Grand Jury stated that on or about Feb. 8, 2011, he allegedly stole goods, having a cumulative value of more than $1,000, belonging to Savage Heavy Highway.

In another matter, a return date for Ryan Vown Isaacs was set for Feb. 15, 10 a.m., due to the issue of a questionnaire for potential jury members. Defense Attorney Robert McCoid is requesting a questionnaire, but Special Prosecuting Attorney Carl “Worthy” Paul opposes such an idea, stating that he believes questionnaires serve no useful purpose.

Karl stated he would look over the questionnaire, which McCoid described as a “roughed out, general idea that we would propose to use,” and set a return date for Feb. 5, 10 a.m.
