At Tuesday night’s meeting of the Wetzel County Board of Education, the following personnel and routine matters met the board’s approval:
Retirements
Mary S. Bissett, acceptance of retirement from position as Supervisory Teacher’s Aide at WCCCF, effective June 30.
Patricia D. Bland, acceptance of retirement from position as Technical Education Teacher at New Martinsville School and Site
Coordinator for Technology at NMS, effective June 30.
Amy R. Cibik, acceptance of retirement from position as Fifth Grade Teacher at NMS, effective June 30.

Leave of Absence
Approval of request from David L. Pethtel for an ‘unpaid leave of absence’ from his position as Title I Teacher and Bus Duty Supervisor at Long Drain School, beginning February 11, 2013, through April 19, 2013, in order to fulfill his elected duty as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates representing the Fifth Delegate District.
Approval of request from Alison Toman-Zwick for an ‘unpaid medical leave of absence’ from her position as Art Teacher at NMS under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) beginning March 4, 2013, through the remainder of the school year.
Routine Matters
Approval was given to a request by Amanda M. McPherson, Instrumental/ Vocal Music and Theater Teacher at Magnolia High School, to take the band, choir, guitar, and theater students and chaperones to New York City on April 19-21. The trip is funded through student funds.
Additionally, the following chaperones/volunteers for the 2012-2013 school year for Magnolia High School met the board’s approval: Sue Miller and Fawn Price.
