Tuesday afternoon the New Martinsville Water Department has issued a boil order for Maple Ave. from Virginia St. to North St., Poplar Lane from Virginia to North, Eliza St., and Arman Alley.

The order is for 48 hours or until it is lifted. The department can lift an order once the water is flowing again, a sample is taken, and it tests acceptable by the Wheeling Health Department.

Boil orders like this are issued each time water stops flowing for any reason. In this case they are tying in one of the new lines on the North Street project. Water Superintendent Pat Durant said several such instances have taken place already and many more will before the project is completed.
