Gray May Admit To Abuse
It was determined Tuesday in Wetzel County Circuit Court that Lonnie David Gray, 65, of HC 60, Box 70, New Martinsville will accept the state’s plea offer in regard to his indictment that includes several sexual-related offenses.
At a Nov. 5 hearing, the court had been informed that a voluntariness hearing was still necessary in the case involving Gray.
Judge Mark A. Karl had been informed that the hearing could last approximately an hour.
However, Karl was informed Tuesday that a voluntariness hearing was no longer necessary and instead, Gray would plea. Defense Attorney Jeremiah Gardner stated that Gray did request that he not plea until after the holidays. The state had no objection to this; thus, Gray’s plea date was set for Jan. 18, 10 a.m.
From the September 2012 Grand Jury, Gray received eight counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, eight counts of incest, and two counts of sexual abuse by a custodian.
