Chili-Fest Awards Top Cooks
Despite the wet weather, the Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce’s 13th annual Chili-Fest was held in downtown New Martinsville Saturday. The judges chose Sharon Jones’ chili to be the best, giving her a $500 prize. Second place went to Linda Goddard, $250, and third to the Amanda Jo Ice Scholarship Fund, $100. Also, Rollin’ Smoke once again garnered the best restaurant award for their chili. The People’s Choice award, and $50, went to George Dyer. Identical monetary awards were also given to the Amanda Jo Ice Scholarship for Best Costume and Celebrate Recovery for Best Table Decorations.
Ribbons were given in three categories. EZ Care got first in the professional category. Non-profit organizations were first, Amanda Jo Ice Scholarship; second, New Life Apostolic Church; and third, Celebrate Recovery. For the individuals, Sharon Jones got first; Linda Goddard, second; and George Dyer, third. Also, Shooters Saloon of Pine Grove won first place for their salsa and Beulah Talkington won $100 in the drawing of those who filled out the chamber’s survey.

- Lenieca Grimm,?River Underwood, and Pitter Pat Jeffers take part in the Wetzel County Center for Children and Families craft station where children could decorate free tote bags.
