Mutt Strut Raises Money For Shelter
The Wetzel County Animal Shelter Supporters, Inc. held the 11th annual Mutt Strut on Oct. 6. The event raised approximately $8,900 after expenses. Several owners and their canine friends came to spend the day together and support the event.
Winners of the contests held were as follows. Pie cook off: first place, Whitney Loy (who donated her prize back to the shelter); second place, Cindy Richter; third place, Diana Cecil. Costume contest: first place, Lea Ann Summers with Lucy, Brandy, and Sienna; second place, Barbara Bucher with Jersey; third place, Debbie Highley with Hannah Banana. There were also four honorable mentions chosen: Marshee Sidenstickler with Roxie, Diana Smith with Lady, Cearia Leek with Maxine, and Christina Highley with Chloe.
Owner/Pet Look-a-like: first place, Trace Freed and Goober; second, Andrea Thomas and Puppy; third, Wanda Rose with Teddy and Socks. Most Pledge Money, 18 and over age group: first place, Quill Brogan; second place, Jodi Goodrich. Most Pledge Money, 18 and younger: first place, Aiden Fluharty; second place, Alex Yeager (he donated his prize back to the shelter).
