Board Expels Five

By Staff | Oct 2, 2012

The Wetzel County Board of Education met behind closed doors for a special meeting Sept. 27 for the presentment of five separate Student Expulsion Hearings.

The board voted unanimously to expel four of the students through the end of the 2012-2013 school year, for violating the Safe Schools Act, State Board of Education Policy 4373 (Student Code Of Conduct), and Wetzel County Board of Education Policy “JFC” (Student Code Of Conduct).

The board voted unanimously to expel the fifth student for 12 consecutive months violating the Safe Schools Act, State Board of Education Policy 4373 (Student Code Of Conduct), and Wetzel County Board of Education Policy “JFC” (Student Code Of Conduct).

While Superintendent Watt said the students were not all from the same school, she declined to say which schools were involved, citing she needed to confer with the board’s attorney.
