Students from Magnolia, River, Valley, Paden City, and Tyler Consolidated high schools film an anti-driving under the influence prom commercial on Main Street, New Martinsville. Coordinated by New Martinsville Chief of Police Tim Cecil, the commercial was aired on Suddenlink during Make It Or Break It, Jersey Shore, and on CMT and MTV. The spots were sponsored by local businesses.
Prom is a special night to remember for most high school students.
For Magnolia High School prom events will be held Friday. The schedule of events are as follows: 5-7 p.m., reception and pictures (known as walk-in) at the New Martinsville City Building; 8-11 p.m., prom at the New Martinsville United Methodist Church in Steelton; after-prom activities follow the dance at Magnolia High School.
In order to make events of the evening flow more smoothly, spectators who wish to see the couples enter the reception at the city building are asked not to park in the parking lots of Christy’s or WVNCC campus.
These parking spaces need to be reserved for the students’ convenience, especially in the case of inclement weather. There should be available parking in the city lot behind Main Street, along Main Street, and up to the intersection of Washington and Main, and along Harlan Drive and the overflow college parking lot. Spectators should remain behind the roped or coned areas to allow room for the students to promenade down the staircase at the front of the city building, be announced, and walk the courtyard. This will allow for all guests to have an unobstructed view and to take photographs and video.
Hundred High School will holds its prom Saturday. A walk down will take place in the school’s gymnasium beginning at 5 p.m., culminated with the crowning of a prom king and queen. The prom goers will leave on a chartered bus at 6 p.m. to go to Lakeview Resort for a dinner and dance.
