Governor’s Task Force Will Meet At MHS

By Staff | Mar 21, 2012

The Region 1 meeting of the Governor’s Regional Substance Abuse Task Force will be held March 27 from 5:30-7:45 p.m. at Magnolia High School. Region 1 consists of Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, and Wetzel counties.

“Our community needs to be represented,” encourages Brandi Murray, Wetzel County Substance Abuse Prevention Program Coordinator.

This is Round 5 of the regional meetings. The Round 4 meeting notes and evaluations, sustainability input, action team progress reports, and attendance reports are available for download at cts.vresp.com/c/?JBLSolutionsLLC/f4cabfe312/57fbefc5e2/9ad7dbd19c.

Murray says it is very helpful to look at the website before attending a regional meeting to know what to expect and be better prepared to participate in the discussion and work toward solutions.

“It is super important that we show our support for this task force and go and are heard,” she reiterated.

During the Round 5 meetings, the Action Teams will report on progress made toward completing their chosen projects by April 30.

The Region 5 project is to install a permanent prescription drug drop off box in every county.

The Wetzel County Coalition Against Drug Abuse has already secured funding to cover the $600 cost for an approved receptacle in a mailbox style.

It will be placed in the New Martinsville Police Department thanks to the support and approval of NMPD Chief Tim Cecil and city council.

“This is something that’s very necessary in our area,” enforce Murray.
