Local Boys Are Featured On RFDTV
Wetzel County’s Jonathan “Cooter” and Jeffrey “Dutch” Brown were recently featured as November’s trail members for the Best of America nation newsletter. The boys recently rode with Tom Seay and Best of America by Horseback TV show at Leatherwood Mountains near Ferguson, N.C. The boys were featured throughout the show that premiered on the RFDTV Network Tuesday at 7 p.m. It will be rebroadcast Wednesday at 9 a.m. and Sunday at midnight. The show includes a very special ending with Del Shields singing “Grandpa’s Buckaroo”.
Best of America by Horseback’s television series is aired on the RFDTV Network via both DISH (Channel 231) and DirecTV (Channel 379) satellite networks, as well as numerous cable companies across the nation, including Comcast, MediaCom, TimeWarner and Verizon to name a few and in several European countries.
The boys are members of the Wetzel County Farm Bureau and are on the Equine Committee they both ride in competitive trail riding too. While in North Carolina they participated in the HERO Super Trail Horse Challenge and both brought home first place in their divisions. It was the first year for there to be a youth division and the sponsors were so pleased with the talent of the young riders that it will be a prize winning division next year.
“The youth were only required to do six of the 12 obstacles, but could try any of the others they thought they and their horse could navigate,” said Bob Yeager, WCFB president. “Dutch impressed a lot of people and Jonathan handled his horse like a seasoned cowboy for only riding solo for less than six months.”
The boys rode in each organized ride with Seay and the BOA crew from Thursday to Sunday. This was the second time for Dutch to ride with Seay. His first ride was at Seay’s home in Culpeper, Va., last April. The boys will be riding with him at his farm next May and traveling to Leatherwood in 2012 also.
“The Wetzel County Farm Bureau is very proud of the boys and their riding accomplishments. Along with their trip to North Carolina, the boys also rode the Black Water Canyon trail and part of the Allegheny Highland Trail this fall,” said Yeager.
