Santa Will Be In Parades

By Staff | Nov 30, 2011

Santa will come to New Martinsville Saturday as the grand finale of the Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas Parade. The procession on Main Street will begin at 6 p.m. The nighttime parade, “A West Virginia Christmas”, will bring the lights and sounds of the holiday to spectators in a spectacular way.

The parade will begin again this year on the north end of Main Street beginning at Elm and ending on South Main at Harlan Drive. Parade set up will take place on north Main Street and McEldowney Avenue. No vehicles except those in the parade will be permitted down McEldowney Avenue between Maple and Main from 5 p.m. until after the parade. North Main Street from Duerr Street to Elm Street will also be closed to through traffic during parade set up.

Another Wetzel County town, Hundred, is planning a Christmas parade. Theirs will be Dec. 17, also at 6 p.m. It will begin at the ball field/park and end at Hundred High School where Santa will greet and treat children. Call 304-775-5131 or 304-775-2235 to register a float in the Hundred Christmas Parade. They would love to have lighted entries in this year’s event.
