Autumnfest Will Fill 4-H Grounds This Weekend
The 19th annual Wetzel County Autumnfest will be held this weekend, beginning Thursday,at the Wetzel County 4-H grounds, located three miles east of New Martinsville on state Route 7. The heritage fair will include crafts, local artisans, food such as apple butter and apple cider, live musical performances, and much more.
The festival will kick off Thursday evening with a baked steak dinner at 6 p.m. with musical entertainment provided by Pat Henderson and the Konnection Singers. Advanced tickets are $12 each or $15 at the door. Proceeds from this event will go to Deb’s Gang of Hope.
All entries in the decorated pumpkins, scarecrows, and baked goods (sponsored by Red Star Yeast), must be registered by 10 a.m. on Oct. 7 where there will be a huge health fair complete with free screenings. At 1 p.m. Pat Henderson and Donnie Forester and Friends will perform.
Dinner will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, with music provided by The Price Family from 5:30-6:30 p.m., followed by SI Connection from 7-9 p.m.
Saturday’s activities begin at 11 a.m. with a horseshoe pitching contest, tractor show, gas engine show, and mud truck show. Bring your truck for the chance to win trophies for the biggest, baddest, and ugliest trucks. Lunch will also begin at 11 a.m. with Pat Henderson to entertain followed by the Mon Valley Pickers from 12:30-2 p.m.
Beginning at 1 p.m. there will be an assortment of children’s activities as well as a cornhole tournament at 2 p.m. Listen to the musical stylings of Tom and Carol Wriston from 2:30-4 p.m. and enjoy karaoke from 4:15-5:30. Karaoke will take place either in the craft building or on the main stage of the fair grounds.
Dinner will again begin at 5 p.m. Saturday evening with entertainment by the Tharp Brothers. Hundred Miles from Nowhere will round out the evening’s line-up from 8-10 p.m.
On Sunday there will be lunch provided at noon followed by entertainment including a Euchre and Cinch tournament from 1-3 p.m.
