Mutt Strut Set For Oct. 22
Walk with a friend at the Wetzel County Animal Shelter Supporters, Inc.’s 10th annual Mutt Strut. This year’s event will be held at the Wetzel County Fairgrounds on Oct. 22.
Registration and all activities begin at 11:30 a.m. A costume contest and dog/owner look alike contest will be done on stage with a police dog demo following.
Multiple events will be going on this year including pawdicures, microchipping, pet blessings, faux dog poo toss, still and candid photo ops, professional caricatures, professional balloon artist, homemade doggie treats, face painting, temporary tattoos, t-shirt decorating, pet items, t-shirt sales, refreshments, t-shirts, and much, much more! There will also be a live broadcast from the event with Carman Harman on Power Country.
The dog walk will begin at 2 p.m. Winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m. All pledge money must be in by the 1 p.m. deadline to qualify for prizes.
There will be lots of door prizes, raffles, 50/50, and certificates and prizes for all the contests as well as great prizes for the most money raised in both 18 and above and 17 and under categories. This year’s prizes include a Pantech Cruz Tablet, Ninetendo Wii, and lots of gift certificates and pet related items. Money is raise by collecting pledges prior to the event. Brochures are available at many local businesses and and the local veterinarian offices, so the Mutt Strut staff encourage individuals to pick up a brochure and get started now! This year will repeat the pie cook off, pumpkin decorating, and carving contest as it was such a success last year. Simply bake a pie or two or carve or paint a pumpkin (dog theme preferred), and bring it the day of the event. Winners will be decided by people’s choice. They will provide plates and forks and staff to serve your pie and show your pumpkins. All you have to do is bring them. There will be prizes for first, second, and third.
