At this week’s Wetzel County Commission meeting Adult Probation Officer John Lantz and Wetzel County Office of Emergency Management Director Ed Sapp met to get approval of the quote from Security Systems Unlimited out of Sistersville for upgrades to the security system at the courthouse. The commission voted to approve the quoted price of $3,740 for the cost of upgrading the security system.

There was discussion that it wasn’t clear whether this quote included securing the commission chambers with a panic button, therefore the commission also approved an additional $500 toward the purchase if the commission chambers were not yet included in the total cost. With this approval, upgrades to the security systems in the courthouse will begin as early as this week.

The commission also made the decision after much deliberation to decline entry into the West Virginia Counties Risk Pool, a member-owned and controlled insurance program offered to them at several recent meetings. Instead the commission agreed Tuesday morning to renew the county’s insurance policy with Wetzel-Valley Agencies/Commercial Insurance.
