Three Injured In Auto Crash

By Staff | Nov 26, 2008

A Sport Utility Vehicle appeared to have left the roadway, struck an embankment, and flipped at least once, before it landed all three of its occupants in hospitals.

The accident occurred Friday at the bottom of River Hill on W.Va. 180, near its intersection with W.Va. 2. Wetzel County 911 received the first call about the incident at 4:21 p.m. and sent units from New Martinsville Fire Department and Wetzel County EMS to the scene of the crash.

“As we arrived we discovered a total of three victims, one of which had reportedly been a back-seat passenger and was ejected from the vehicle upon impact and landed on the embankment near Route 2,” said New Martinsville Fire Chief Larry Couch.

Two of the victims were transported to Wetzel County Hospital by Wetzel County EMS and a third was transported by the New Martinsville Fire Department to the same facility. It was reported that two of the victims were later transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Traffic along W.Va. 180 and W.Va. 2 was altered for an undisclosed time while patients were being cared for.
