Five Compete For MHS Crown
Five senior girls at Magnolia High School are vying for the title of Homecoming Queen: Rachel Ellen Hoffman, Kelsey Elizabeth Klug, Michelle Kathryn Snyder, Suzanne Elizabeth Snyder, and Makenzie Lyn Walker. The winner will be crowned during halftime of the Magnolia-Barnesville High School football game Friday evening.
Rachel Ellen Hoffman is the daughter of David and Kathy Hoffman.
Rachel is field commander of the marching band and president of the senior class. She is also a member of the Young Ladies Union, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Service Club, Science Honor Society, PRIDE, MHS Softball Team, MHS Thespian, MHS Debate, and Percussion Ensemble. She has been a Rotary Student of the Month.
Rachel plans to attend West Virginia University and major in fashion marketing and merchandising, ultimately becoming a fashion editor.
She will be escorted by Eric Christian Haught, the son of Tim and Jill Haught. He is a section leader of the marching band and vice president of the senior class. He is part of the MHS Quiz Bowl, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, MHS Thespian, Percussion Ensemble, and Jazz Band. He plans to attend WVU and major in pre-law, continue into law school, and become a prestigious lawyer.
Kelsey Elizabeth Klug is the daughter of Jim and Denise Klug.
Kelsey is the co-captain of the flag corp. She is in the Science National Honor Society, Student Council, Service Club, PRIDE (Drug Prevention), track team, and Young Ladies Union. She is parliamentarian of the New Martinsville FFA, vice president of the Saddles-N-Spurs 4-H Club, and has been named a Rotary Student of the Month.
Kelsey plans to attend Wheeling Jesuit University and receive a bachelor’s degree in nuclear medicine.
She will be escorted by Josh Goddard, son of Shane and Kathryn Goddard. He is involved in baseball and FFA. He plans to attend Fairmont State University.
Michelle Kathryn Snyder is the daughter of Steve Snyder and Kathy Snyder.
Michelle is active in varsity softball, varsity cheerleading, Mu Alpha Theta, Science National Honor Society, and Young Life. She is treasurer of the Young Ladies Union and vice president of student council. She is also a mathematics tutor for middle school students.
Michelle plans to attend college and pursue a career in occupational therapy.
She will be escorted by T.J. Standiford, son of Tom and Teresa Standiford. He is active on the tennis team and in Young Life. He plans to attend Marshall University and major in computer graphic design.
Suzanne Elizabeth Snyder is the daughter of Steve and Kathy Snyder.
Suzanne is part of the volleyball and softball teams. She is president of the student council, secretary of the Young Ladies Union, and involved with Young Life.
Suzanne plans to attend WVU and major in speech pathology.
She will be escorted by Jared Wright, son of Charles and Brenda Wright. He is a section leader in band and an Eagle Scout. He is involved in National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Thespians. He plans to go to WVU Tech and study electrical engineering.
Makenzie Lyn Walker is the daughter of Steve Walker and Kristen Walker.
Makenzie is secretary of both the National Honor Society and student council. She is a cheerleader and involved with Mu Alpha Theta, Young Life, and the Young Ladies Union.
Makenzie plans to attend WVU and major in secondary education for mathematics while also earning a minor in music.
She will be escorted by Brandon Kocher, son of Steve and Christy Kocher. He is active in the MHS Basketball Team, TSA, president of Mu Alpha Theta, Young Life, and Quiz Bowl. He plans to attend WVU and major in aerospace engineering.
Junior class princess is Alexis Pixler, daughter of Wayne and Julie Pixler. She is active in PRIDE, the marching band, flag corp, concert band, prom committee, and was a varsity cheerleader her freshman year. She will be escorted by Michael Tusic, son of Scott and Vici Tusic. He is active in the golf team, Service Club, and was class treasurer his freshman year.
Sophomore class princess is Klarisa Robinson, daughter of Corie and Roger Clayton and Jamie Robinson. She plays volleyball and she likes to spend her free time with family and friends. She will be escorted by Isaac Howell, son of Billy and Kim Howell. He plays soccer and likes to spend his free time with friends.
Freshman class princess is Ashtin Zajdowicz, daughter of Steve and Cindy Zajdowicz. She is a varsity cheerleader who takes gymnastic classes and loves spending time with family and friends. She will be escorted by Cody Hall, son of Mike and Micky Hall. He is in the marching band and plays a part in the musical. He also loves being with his friends.
